MRSA and Natural Medicine
Methicillin
Resistant Staphylococcus
Aureus, is only
ONE of a plethora of bacteria and viruses that, when out of balance
in the body, can lead to serious human illness.
Fact is-- thousands of men, women and (especially) children die
daily of Cholera, Malaria, hospital-induced diseases, and many
others more rampant than MRSA.
SO - here is a herbal perspective
of MRSA:
First of all, real herbalists are SELDOM rich (because they nurture
people, not bank accounts) - so that money is seldom a motivating
factor in disseminating herbal health information. Herbs are incredibly
cheap compared to pharmaceutical drugs. There is FAR less money
to be made (or spent) when we use natural herbal medicines in
a traditional way-- meaning teas, tinctures, and topicals, not
"standardized extract" pills. Thus, the information
you receive from a herbalist is generally less tainted by the
influence of money, and therefore it is perhaps more "true
blue" and reliable.
OK, HERE ARE THE BASICS of MEDICAL vs. HERBAL in regards to MRSA,
or any other viral or bacterial afflictions. Fasten your seat
belts.....
The medical approach is called ALLOPATHIC and refers to medicine
which focuses on drugs to actively kill cells or smother symptoms.
Allopathic medicine also focuses on surgery to cut portions of
the body in an attempt to heal dysfunction and disease.
The
NATUROPATHIC approach to healing subscribes to the latin concept
of "vis medicatrix naturae", or the healing power (or
energy/spirit?) of Nature that lies within each of us and within
the plants, animals. birds, bugs, and minerals of this earth.
This power helps the body to heal itself. HERBALISM is a form
of Naturopathic medicine.
Allopathic medicine, generally speaking, tries to identify a
single causative factor, or "pathogen", as being responsible
for an illness. It then ( again 'generally' ) combats that 'pathogen'
with a single-component pharmaceutical drug, or a combination
of single-component, drugs. Thus a throat infection might be treated
with Tetracycline, whose ingredient is tetracycline; or with penicillin,
whose only ingredient is penicillin.
A herbalist might treat this throat infection with the roots
of Licorice,
Osha,
and Echinacea.
EACH of these medicinal herbs contains at least 10 to 20 constituents
which work harmoniously to outsmart a bacteria or virus which
is trying to mutate its way to drug immunity. It is far easier
for a micro-organism like Streptococcus aureas to evolve a defense
(through constant mutation of generations) to a SINGLE substance
like Methicillin, than it is to evolve a defense for 60 different
herbal constituents!
BUILD A STRONG DEFENSE with herbs!!
There were good, herbal reasons why thousands of people survived
the plague in the Middle Ages in Europe, and the deadly flu epidemic
of 1918. A plant called Lomatium dissectum saved many people in
western USA from the flu that killed millions of others. (see
planetherbs.com). Western doctors learned about this plant from
the Washoe Native American people.
PANDEMIC IS LOOOONG OVERDUE!
You
can put your faith in Big Pharma's drugs to save you if that's
what you choose. ME-- I'll take herbs (and LOTS of 'em!)
to help me survive the upcoming pandemic. DAILY DOSES of immune-building
herbs like Astragalus, Privet fruits, Pau d'arco, Eleuthero, Bilberry
(first cousin to blueberry), elder flower and fruits; Reishi,
Shiitake, Maitake, and Chaga mushrooms in soups and stews; lots
and lots of Garlic (!).
AND WHEN THE "BIG ONE" KNOCKS ON YOUR DOOR-- Roots
of Lomatium, Elecampane, Wild indigo, Echinacea, Pleurisy, and
Osha.... and garlic, garlic, garlic! PLUS a variety (to increase
chances of discouraging viruses) of essential
oils diffused throughout the house or workplace-- like Thyme,
Rosemary,
Lavender,
Basil,
Tea
Tree, Eucalyptus,
wild
Oregano, and others...
The choices are yours......as that famous oil filter advertisement
says-- "you can pay me (or other herbalist) NOW... or you
can pay me (for "the Big One") later"... We are
here when you are ready to commit to protection and defense. We
are here when, and if, you need treatment "suggestions"
(because, of course, herbalists do NOT "diagnose, prescribe,
or give medical advice".... )
We all have our own belief systems and follow our own paths.
I am firmly committed to the belief that Nature WILL balance herself
despite our anthropocentric, arrogant belief that we are smarter
than Mother Nature and can control Her with man-made, so-called
chemical "medicines". A certain percentage of people
will be concerned enough to hike to higher ground before the coming
viral (or bacterial) tsunami arrives. Others will not. Personally--I
am preparing. If you wish to follow suit, call a herbalist. We
can help you to help yourself.
Thanks for listening. And, as always-- "Eat well. Be conscious.
Recycle/reuse/rebuild. Help one another. Know who your plant friends
are-- get to know them. Love health and one another-- Stephan
